UE4 Game Level Assignment

We have just started work on our next college assignment, a solo game level. I have chosen a forest environment which presents a few problems for limiting the player, and this post is about my creative way of solving this.

So from lectures about game level design and using light to guide the player I had the idea of guiding the player's path using light from the gap in the tree canopy. Further investigating the post processing effects in UE4 and playing around with the Bokeh depth of field I came up woth some interesting effects which will draw the player to where I want them to be whailst creating an open ended feeling to the environment.

Through the use of the postprocessing volumes placed around the edges and adjusting the blend distance I have been able to create the effect that i want, and with further tweaking I'll have something pretty cool :)
